Community mourns Cameron, NC's Miss Belle’s Collectibles, Antiques & Tea Room

Miss Belle's in 2021 after fence install.    Today, June 20, 2023, Cameron, North Carolina, is known as the town where that historic house was demolished by a church on Juneteenth. It is on the web, the radio, and TV. The demolition began at 7:30 a.m. on Juneteenth and ended when rain poured that afternoon. In the late 1800s, Cameron, North Carolina was known as the Dewberry Capital. From the 1970s through 2019, it was known as the Antique Capital of the world. What will Cameron will be known as next? Cameron, NC receives 400k grant for Dewberry Barn & Vineyards Event Venue

  North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced the Town of Cameron as recipients of a $400,000 grant June 15, 2023. Cameron received the grant under the Community Enhancements Category. At Cameron’s regular meeting in Jan. 2023, the board voted to accept Mayor Pro Tempore Ginger Bauerband’s proposal for Dewberry Barn & Vineyards Event Venue. She initiated the project, designed flyers, wrote the grant with Triangle J and contacted the property owners, who agreed to sell the property at $10,00 per acre. The Rural Transformation Grant Fund is for revitalizing downtown districts, building the capacity of local government staffs, revitalizing neighborhoods, fostering small business recovery, and supporting economic growth initiatives. The Dewberry Barn & Vineyards Event Venue property adjoins Phillips Memorial Park. Looks like Cameron is on the rebound for being the Dewberry Capital once more.
